RASCOM's mission and objectivs

RASCOM's mission is to design, implement, operate and maintain the space segment of the African telecommunications satellite system and translate into services and tools for African integration, all the opportunities provided by satellites by linking it, where necessary, with any other appropriate technology. RASCOM must help attain the following goals;

  • Provide an affordable infrastructure on a large scale to rural areas of the continent by using appropriate technology;
  • Improve and /or develop inter-urban communications in each country;
  • Establish direct links between all African countries without exception;
  • Provide facilities for radio and television broadcast in each country and enable the exchange of radio and television programmes between African countries;
  • Support international connectivity: pursue connectivity where others cannot go;
  • Provide a range of services, voice, data, multi-media, tele-education, tele-medicine, video conferencing, etc.
