The Global Digital Solidarity Fund (DSF) offers everyone an opportunity to take direct action to combat the digital divide. Public authorities or private enterprises purchasing goods and services in the field of information and communication technologies (ITC)Public authorities or private enterprises can apply the “1% digital solidarity principle ” when procuring goods and/or services in the ITC domain. Simply include a digital solidarity clause in your calls for bids. Under the terms of this clause, vendors undertake to make a contribution to digital solidarity, equivalent to 1% of the value of the transaction, payable to the DSF from their profit margin and entitling them to display the digital solidarity label . Private businesses providing goods and services in the ITC domain Private businesses providing goods and services in the field of ICT can choose from a number of options to make a concrete contribution to reducing the digital divide:
Any private business can decide to adhere to the “1%r digital solidarity principle” by paying to the DSF a contribution of 1% of the value of their sales transactions, out of their profit margin. The contributor will then be granted the digital solidarity label and can benefit from its advantages.
Private businesses can finance a specific project, chosen from among the project proposals addressed to the DSF.Become a Founding Member of the DSF States, public collectivities (cities or regions), international organizations, civil society organizations or private enterprises can become founding members of the DSF. Each founding member makes a one-time contribution of 300,000 Euros. Founding members can participate in the deliberations of the Foundation Board . The quality of founding member does not ipso facto confer the right to vote at meetings of the Foundation Board. Members of the Foundation Board are co-opted by the founding members. Make a donation In addition to the options above, any individual, institution or private enterprise can decide to make a donation – in cash or in kind – to the DSF.
